Why don’t I make money blogging like others?

” Why don’t I make money blogging like others? I have done what is necessary to generate income from my blog yet I see nothing. Is it really possible to make money blogging? “

This is a common question I get from most newbie bloggers who were told how easy it is to make money blogging and who are obsessed about it.

It’s so sad that most of us are starting on a wrong footing!

I have decided to create this short post so I don’t keep repeating myself. The first thing I must say is this … don’t be obsessed about making money blogging.

Now let me answer the last question quickly.

Is it possible to make money blogging?

Answer #1 : Yes! if you do this the right way as I explain here below

Answer #2 : No! If you stay where you are and don’t change your mindset.

Why don’t I make money like others ?

Make money bloggingThe very first answer to this question is that you are trying to copy others. You are not being yourself. You want to do what others are doing. It will never work this way. You have to develop your brand in your own voice.

If you want to be like others, be ready to feed on the crumbs from their table. They will not leave anything solid for you. That’s why you MUST build your world and make it fresh and unique.

Getting your blog set and writing good content is only one step forward. A lot is to be done.

Doing the things listed in the post I just mentioned don’t guarantee you will make money with your blog. The proof is that you (or so many others) are still complaining after having the banners and Adsense slots on your/their blog.

Focus on the quality of your traffic

What’s pathetic about this issue is that must of those worrying about how to make money blogging are newbies who are blogging just for that same purpose. They only think about the money while neglecting the source of the money.

If you want to make money online, you must focus on visitors who have their credit cards in their hands (targeted visitors) not those who left their cards somewhere at home (irrelevant visitors).

You really need targeted visitors

No matter how beautiful and powerful your blog and contents are, you need the right and targeted type of visitors to make money blogging.

It’s not enough to generate traffic!

You must be able to attract the right audience to your blog. There is no magic bullet to this. Don’t just go out hunting for visitors. Get the right readers who will get properly addressed by your contents. 100 daily targeted visitors are worth more than 1000 daily irrelevant visitors who click off your page as soon as they arrive.

Does SEO matter in this?

I have head some bloggers say damn SEO because it’s erratic and unreliable. They are just thinking from the bottom. Optimizing your articles and making them search engine friendly is still very crucial if you want to make money blogging. Search engines still constitute the best source of targeted traffic.

I use SEOPressor for OnPage optimization. It’s the perfect feat for that purpose.

    If I’ve learned one thing about making money online? This isn’t a “get rich quick” – its more like like a faucet with a slow leak – one day that faucet will be cranked on – but until then its important to cultivate that slow leak :)

    And I don’t care what anyone says – SEO is still important – even if it isn’t for search engines. It will make sure your articles are setup correctly for readers as well as the Search Engines!

    This has been a long debated topic Enstine,
    And I’m happy you’ve brought up again. I agree with you that if you keep on doing what you’ve doing that is not generating any result, then you can’t make money blogging.

    One of my favorite Inventor….. Henry Ford defined INSANITY AS: DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN WHILE EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULT.

    This is to say that, if you must make money blogging, you must first of all change what you’ve been doing.

    There are numerous ways to monetize once you have traffic. If you have some highly targeted traffic you can sell product and if you have huge less targeted traffic, you can sell pay per impression ads.

    However, no traffic, no money :)

Now I realize that I can make it true just by working smart to get targeted visitors and being patient and consistent in making quality content in my blogs.     I don’t think that blogging can get anyone quick money. It demands constant hardwork, inspiration(self motivation) , well written content and targeted visitors as you have rightly pointed out. SEO is not dead for sure.99% of the bloggers are giving their best to get into the 1% bracket.

    Good points here all around. I think the mistake most newbie bloggers can make is expecting huge traffic and response to their blog right away. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. It requires a lot of patience, and acquiring knowledge along the way.

    I have built up my blog slowly but consistently. Placing a few posts a week, placing my blog link on many different sites, using Google ping, twitter, FB, and other social networking, along with commenting on other blogs and developing blogger relationships. All these things help expose your blog. SEO is important as is constant interaction and promotion. It’s not easy and takes a good amount of time. My traffic and followers are building. My site stats are respectable after only about 5 months.

    Yes, I am not placing any ads on my blog. Not yet. It’s not about making money right now. It’s about building up my blog, developing it with quality content, and learning more. Is that wrong to do this and not want to make money from it? Maybe, maybe not. But it’s working for me. When I feel my blog is ready to generate revenue then I will start.

    Slow and steady wins the race as they say. Never give up.

    You are missing one important point here.
    Choose the best niche. Choosing the best nice that best fits you is very crucial to earn online from blogging. Blogging on cancer thinking that you will get high CPC is not beneficial at all if you are not an expert in the field but choosing very highly saturated low CPC niche is also not profitable at all even if you are an expert in that field. So choosing a best niche based on your expertise , market saturation and Advertiser’s interest is very important to earn online from blogging.

      I’m not looking at the basics in making money online. Remember we dealing with a question where someone has done the necessary steps yet still not making it. I suppose the blog has been built in a chosen niche and the other required stuffs are in place. Why then is the guy not still making money? I think he lacks targeted traffic

        Then I would say Traffic + Engagement = Earnings
        Digging into sources with engaging traffic and getting more buying visitors to your website will get you more income.
        You have nice points listed here , I would like to add SEO and a Cathcy , Responsive design is a must for more income.

    Another awesome post about Make money online. Well, I think we need to focus on quality of content, then focus on targeted backlinks and traffic, because we can not make money until we get highly targeted traffic.

    Lets say if we’re getting tons of traffic from facebook, twitter, google+ but that traffic didn’t convert into sales and subscribers, then what?

    So again come to the quality of product and target the right traffic for that product we’re trying to sale. If we do hard work on our blog and get targeted traffic, we can make money from Ads, direct advertising, paid posting. (Please correct me if I’m wrong)

    Like Phil, I’m not even trying to make money at the moment – plan to work on this in the coming months, but at the moment I’m just busy building up content on my blog, making connections, building relationships and hopefully developing a reputation for quality.

    I’m under no illusions about how difficult it can be to convert traffic into paying customers and I think it’s important not to rush things.

    Interesting post Enstine, I think like any other online business idea, blogging should be approached in the same way. If someone interested in making money blogging follows the crowd it can prove to be a struggle, which is why one should diversify their income sources, look outside of their blogs too. Also people focus on too many monetization methods rather than work on a single method, then when it’s working move on to the next.

    Exactly. I know at least 3 people who keep on telling me “Why can I earn on my blog”. I have nothing to tell them) because relying into a hard work doesn’t’ always mean that your blog will be popular. Every 5 minutes bloggers post 5000 articles. And only ten on them are visible in Google. That is about patience and work!

    Yes it is possible to make money blogging. I know that, you know that and a whole bunch of bloggers know that even if they aren’t making money blogging as yet.

    What is needed in order to make money blogging is TRAFFIC. If you don’t have any traffic then you will not be able to make money from your blog.

    So what these new bloggers need to do is stop chasing after these money making myths and start generating traffic because with traffic comes money.

    Love this.. Most of us focus too much on making money and ignore other things! Other things like, contents, landing page, blog designs, etc

    Understanding your visitors goes a long way, but one can only do this by offering QUALITY content. CONTENT IS STILL THE KING!

    We should not underestimate “Social Medias”.. Just too many competitors on Google these days, all fighting for two things – KEYWORDS and Page Ranking.. What if Google stop operating? Would you still be able to cope as a blogger? I think this is something we should keep in mind SOCIAL MEDIAS is now paving the way for all of us.

    Oh yes, the power of commenting on other blogs is another way to promote your blog and commentluv is the future for this!

    Great post! I think if we focus on serving, helping, and adding value to others the money will be close behind. People can tell if your just trying to make money or if you care and want to add value to them.

    When you wrote about “quality of traffic” I thought about one of the best indicators of having quality traffic is if the person engages with you and in the comment section.

    The hardest part of making money blogging is the beginning. Many new bloggers give up at the beginning because they are frustrated to see they get neither mass traffic nor money. They forget that to reach success there must be hard effort and smart work. This is inevitable. So keep on trying to write, do blog commenting, guest posting, optimizing on page SEO, build relationship with other bloggers etc.
