A lot of people believe that if you spam your business links through out Facebook and Twitter, it will grow your business. That is the farthest thing from the truth. In fact if you do that, you will end up angering your fans in your networks and they will not want anything to do with you.
There are only really two things you need to do in order to grow your business through social media. It has nothing to do with pestering your fans and followers to buy your products or services.
1. Spread Your Influence
The first thing you must do is to learn how to become influential in your niche. What is it about your business that you are truly passionate in? Once you find it, you need to stick with that, and share interesting facts about your niche through your networks. I am talking about compelling information that is relevant to your niche, and be consistent with it. You must also get a blog and blog about something to do with your niche at least once a week and share it on your networks. Create a podcast as well, and a YouTube or Vimeo channel. Just go out there and educate what you can about anything to do with your niche. People are interested in learning, and if they value what you have to say and come for more updates from you, they will be attracted to you and eventually they can be ideal clients/customers.

2. Build Your Tribe
The second thing you must do is to build your network or tribe. This is extremely important and you can easily do this once you have positioned yourself as the “go-to” person in your niche, or even while you are in the process of it. Just remember, if you are sharing your great content out there, that is great however you need to be social! You will never get anywhere if everything is “one sided”. Therefore, if you end up with a new friend on Facebook or LinkedIn, welcome that new connection. That alone opens doors for a new relationship.
And you also must interact with your new fans and followers. You must not only talk to them if they say something to you. However, show interest in them, meaning converse with them over something they have shared on their networks. This way, they will respect you even more. They will be even more interested in what you offer. Put yourself in their shoes and never share anything on your networks that can easily offend people like anything that you would not discuss at the dinner table (religion, politics, sexuality and even jokes that could easily offend people). Do not complain or share any kind of negativity. Be uplifting, be inspiring, be interesting- and be social.
This is how you will not only grow your networks however, think about those in your networks thinking of you as the “go-to” person- and think about how many of their friends they could possibly refer over to you! That is how you grow business through social media.
It is not an overnight process, however if you are consistent then you will in the end be very successful with it.
