Most of my readers are interested in ways to generate income online. I have learned and shared quite much on community building on this blog, which is an important component in making money blogging.
As a matter of fact, building relationships and networking with like minded bloggers is as crucial as making sales to survive as a blogger. The bigger your community, the more money you are likely to make.
The question is are your friends helping you to make money? OR, are you helping your friends to make money? What are the things you do to help your friends earn a commission or make a sale?
Being an active community member (Following, sharing, liking, tweeting, etc) is a great way to promote friends. Buy a friend’s product or clicking an affiliate banner on his or her blog, of course are ways to make him or her get some money but do you consciously take some steps you know are going to put some money in your friend’s wallet?
NB: Avoid frequently clicking Adsense ads as this can run your friends into trouble
In this post, I took a step to reward anyone who buys any of the listed products using my affiliate link. Yes, I make money promoting affiliate products. Making money this way (affiliate marketing) is second to selling my own products and services.
So far, some friends have gotten free copies of my products by purchasing online using my affiliate link. That’s a win win deal isn’t it? However, some have acted even without knowing I have packaged bonuses for them. Take a look at a mail I received from Maricel Rivera
Now, this makes me proud of the quality of friends I have in my network. That shows I did well to let them know what I want. Maricel knew by using my affiliate link, I’ll get credited. So she went ahead and did just that without knowing about these bonuses I offer.
Are you helping your friends make money ?
Before your next purchase online, it may be a good thing to find out from your friends if they promote the product you are about to buy. Buying using their unique coupons or affiliate links will bring them some commissions and of course keep them happy. I don’t think this will be against some affiliate product TOS.
More friends, More money…
Getting friends online is unfortunately not an easy task. That’s just because friendship is earned, not bought or asked and as we all know it requires real work to earn something. Whether it’s offline or online, there are couple of things you must do to earn the friendship of people.

- link to their articles,
- Interview them,

Now let’s talk…
Do you ask your friends for their affiliate links before buying online? Has any of them ever asked you for your link before buying any stuff? Do you think this is a good approach? Please share your thoughts in the comment box. I’ll also be happy if you share this post on social media
