One of the most interesting free WordPress plugins I have found recently is WordPress’s Jetpack. This is actually WordPress’s product so they have all the reasons to build it with attractive features.
I must admit this plugin is a sweet bundle of excellent features every blogger will like to go for. Some of these features are strategic and very effective in helping you get both repeat and new visits. I’ll be focusing on these 3 features that help us get traffic in this post though you’ll find the other features as important too.
A few days ago, I decided to bring down many plugins, both free and paid from my blog in a bit to reduce load time. I got tremendous results. However, JetPack survived my harsh decision because of the very little amount of weight it has on my blog - 0.14 sec. That looks reasonable isn’t it for a plugin that does more than one thing.
JetPack installation is as easy as installing any other plugin. I have details of this in the video below. Check it out!
How to increase blog traffic with JetPack – Subscriptions
Repeat visitors are those who come to your blog over and over. JetPack makes it sweet and friendly to bring them back to your blog whenever there is a new comment on an article they commented or when there is a new post. This is done by activating the subscription feature.
Go to the jetpack dashboard and click “Configure” under “Subscription” This will add 2 checkboxes to your comment form – comment subscription and new post subscription
I must confess when I started, I saw these checkboxes on many blogs but didn’t have an idea where they came from. I even had JetPack for some months not knowing this feature. Well, but one day, I decided to take a closer look into it and found the highly wanted checkboxes
How to increase blog traffic with JetPack - Publicize
This feature will automatically share your post to popular social media sites once you click the ‘publish‘ button. I think it’s a big time saver.
Go to the Jetpack dashboard and click “Configure” under “Publicize” to add your various social media links – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Tumblr.
How to increase blog traffic with JetPack - Sharing Buttons
There are many plugins out there that do this sharing function but I’m afraid you have to take them at the expense of your fast speed. I was using the popular Digg Digg plugin but when I saw the load impact on my blog speed, my eyes got spinning. Don’t get me wrong though! It’s an excellent plugin but I found something just faster.
Go to the Jetpack dashboard and click “Configure” under “Sharing” to set the various buttons and positions.
Want to know what this looks like? Check the sharing buttons under this post.
I have also shot a video that summarizes these features.
Now JetPack has tons of interesting features but I wanted to bring just these that will help you get more traffic to your blog. It’s quite interesting to have a multiple function plugin like this that respects the speed of your blog.
Now tell me … Do you have Jetpack? What’s your experience with it? Share your thoughts in the comment box below
