Most of us bloggers crave to make money blogging but the way we go about it is amiss, but listen, like making money doing any offline business, to generate income blogging, you have to follow success principles.

To many, how to start blogging is no longer an issue. They are able to set up their blogs and publish a few articles within a short time. But the real issue is to make money blogging.

Almost everywhere, you see these gurus and pro-bloggers showcasing their monthly income but I tell you, much is kept behind doors. They merely show you what they have made, not how they made it. Right this moment, I want to discuss the key thing you must do or the surefire way to make money blogging. This may not please you but you have to do it. 

You must spend money to make money blogging.

Look, if you are sitting on the bench of the FREEs, be ready to pack your luggage back home like a disappointed 1900 business man with no hope. You can’t succeed in this business if you want everything for free.

There are some basic things I know you know you can’t get them free but I’m not concerned about them right now. Well, just to let you know I know them, you must buy a domain name and hosting account.

Baaaaa! I know some folks want to tell me hey Enstine I can do with mydomain.wordpress.com. If you are that type, you are off pitch. Go grab a domain name and hosting account from a professional web host like Hostgator before coming back here.

There is no successful business that has not gone through serious financial investment. I wonder why some bloggers think blogging is different.

How do you spend money in blogging to make money blogging?

1 – Buy premium templates or hire a designer for a custom theme: If you want to generate income from your blog, you must get a well designed theme. Stop searching the net for free templates. This will only keep you broke. I don’t spend 1 second on such blogs with poorly scrapped free templates.

Don’t get me wrong! I know there are lots of free themes that are good but ‘FREE’ should not be your ruler.

2 – Buy premium plugins: Truth is what most premium plugins can help you get, a lot of free plugins out there are able to get the same results. But there are lots of bad effects from using free stuffs. Generally, you don’t get updates and supports. That’s too bad when there is an attack. You may have no where to run to. Get the right plugins to help you generate income while you blog and keep your blog clean.

3 – Join professional communities: There are lots of blogging communities out there that can help push your blog up so fast. The good news is that most of them are paid. Yes, it is GOOD NEWS. Why? Because by paying, you get someone to work for you to get results. You also get to connect and network with other bloggers and drive traffic to your blogs.

Simple truth is, everyone I meet on paid platform like BlogEngage is serious. No one pays money to joke. They mean business. That’s why it’s crucial to associate with them. If you want to make money blogging, spend money on paid platforms.

4 – Spend money to drive traffic: There are lots of ways to spend money to drive traffic to your blog. One of the most effective of these is Cash Prize contests. My recent experience with this $75 Cash Prize Contest has completely brought a new phase to my blogging business. I didn’t know it until I published the contest. Just this contest alone brought over 1000 tweets and over 125 comments (excluding my replies) from contestants. This brought untold traffic and hooked me up with many like minded bloggers.

5 – Spend money to attend live blogging event: The advantages of attending live events and having physical contacts with other bloggers are unnumbered. Buy tickets and attend these knowledge packed events. Your investments can’t go in vain.

6 – Spend money to study: Listen, knowledge is power. I know you can get knowledge from free resources all over. But to make money blogging, there are lots of things you need to know only through paid tickets. Invest the money and be well positioned for success.

7 – Spend money to buy the tools: The fun is some bloggers don’t even have a computer and other necessary tools to keep them working. You really want a computer too for free?

8 – Build a list: One of the main excuses bloggers don’t build a list is that AWeber or some other autoresponder costs money. You need to spend money to make money blogging. AWeber is never going to be free for you. Start your investment today and start generating income blogging.

9 – Hire professional writers: I may not be the best writer but I have come across some horrible blog posts. Totally below average. If you can’t construct a full sentence without an error, it might not be your fault. We are all learning.  If you really want to make money blogging, hire a professional writer to provide good contents for your blog

Do you really want to make blogging blogging from home? you have to start investing in your blog. Show your blog some love. Spend money and you will get money.

    Sound advice, Enstine – I entirely agree, although there’s a lot of great free stuff online, sometimes you have to invest in order to make money. I must admit I’ve wasted money on some rubbish, but I’ve also paid for some excellent training and tools that I wouldn’t want to be without.

    Universal fact! :P

    Those who think will earn from their business without spending a bit on it. Then I must say they are fooling themselves. If you are not spending on the expense then forget about the profit.

    Just like you have a cool blog, great content, but the LOGO on your blog doesn’t represent your brand then it must be negative factor which will lead you nowhere. And, at that point you need someone like ME who will give you Professional Logos.

    Very good tips. I like idea of the competition for your blog. Its amazing how you managed to get 1000 tweets which is extremely amazing. But the question is what do I for for my blog. Its easy if you have a blog that is around money making or blogging. Outsourcing is another good idea, you could spend hours and hours so why not take the help of others and outsource.

    Very informative post! Yes, I agree with your points. If any online jobs is chosen to make money without investment, then hard-work, time, consistency and passion should be invested to thrive in it.

    Here too (blogging with money investment), these are needed, but I hope not that much. Anyway i understood that we’ll get an exceptional result in blogging if the money is invested.

    What’s up Enstine, great post and I’m sure we can all relate to this topic. One of the biggest things I see is how many people are trying to make money from blogging.

    There’s a false perception that everyone can start earning money in a short period of time, not true. It takes time and like you mention Enstine, you need to invest money in order to make money..

    If your not willing to Invest money in your blog then you better pick another hobbies because there will be tools and programs that will help you to achieve your goals and that sometimes requires a little cash to get started.

    Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying you need tons of money but! at least a self hosting account to keep all your hard work safe, don’t you think?

    I can go one for hours about this topic because there’s some many new bloggers coming aboard thinking it will be a peace of cake only to find out it’s not that easy…

    Hi Enstine,

    i agree with all your points except 1 and 6. A free theme can be really good if you have a little designing skills and well-acquainted with coding (as in my case) because after all minimalism in themes these days are working well and with free themes and a little bit of coding, this can be achieved.

    6 – I don’t disagree with but I get my knowledge via conducting my own surveys (in my niche) and that has helped me a lot.

    Does it feel to you too that hard work can be a handy substitute to premium things? Of course it is not possible every time and that is why I agree with all the other 8 points, particularly getting Aweber, gosh I have to get it soon!

    Hey Enstine,

    I agree that if you want to make money you’re going to have to spend it. Starting out with free platforms is okay if you’re trying to just get the learning experience under your belt first so that you’ll get a sense of where you want to go or how you want to do things.

    The issue with all free is that most people won’t take you seriously. I mean if I’m following someone who is claiming they can teach me how to make money blogging yet they are using all free services and platforms I’m not going to take them too seriously and in the back of my mind I’m thinking they’re full of it. They definitely are not coming across as very professional if they aren’t willing to invest in themselves.

    Great tips and although there is a lot of really great free information out there, they are seriously pointing you in the right direction and that’s not going the free route.

    I can relate to what you just said, You need to spend money in order to make money blogging. In other words it is about money invest money. Never comes Free. If it is Free you still need TIME to manage your blog and creating lots of high value contents.
    If you have no time then spent money to learn, outsource, and put it in a way using money to manage workers to work for in order to reap out the benefit like what you have just wrote.
    Just like being an affiliate. You need money for training, tools, domain name, server, lots of it require a certain amount of fee.
    and not to forget marketing. When it comes to marketing, doing the Free way is not enough. One should put in money like Search Engine Marketing – Google, Yahoo PPC (Pay Per Click) to drive the traffic in. Convert them into leads and then slowly turning them into sales and the whole process repeats.

    1 who consider making money blogging should be focus and know your niche well. Not jumping into the bandwagon of making money but having the right mindset creating value helping people around.
